RIVER EBRO CARP
The combination of a vast expanse of water and the warm
summer temperatures of Spain, provides the ideal habitat for
the river Ebro carp. Primarily a bottom feeder, these carp live
mainly on a diet of crayfish and crustaceans and grow to sizes
in excess of 6olb.
Although the River Ebro contains mirror carp and fully scaled carp, it’s the common carp that makes up the majority of this thriving carp population.

These long and lean fish, many of which are uncaught and
untamed, can be regularly seen topping or shoaled up in
numbers around the Riba Roja dam area. They are renowned
for their power and even the smaller fish will provide some
of the fastest takes and lengthiest fights most carp anglers
will have experienced.
CARP FISHING SESSIONS
At Hacienda Angling we appreciate that this is your holiday.
Therefore, we will arrange with you the evening prior to fishing
what session you would like to fish.

Our day rates are based on 8 hrs fishing, so we fish sessions
from dawn until lunch, lunch till dusk or during the day for those
who can brave the scorching summer heat.
Generally, dawn and dusk are the hottest carp feeding
spells and we will advise you upon arrival what times have
been most productive.
THE ULTIMATE 'TAKES' WATER
From our picturesque base in the pleasant town of Riba Roja,
Hacienda Angling has access to some exceptional pre baited
bank side carp fishing hotspots, above and below the dam,
that are literally teaming with carp.
In the cooler months, these deeper waters can provide visitors with the ultimate Carp fishing 'takes' water and these hotspots regularly result in double figure catches of Carp averaging 15-25lb with a good chance of a 30lb+ fish and fish to just under 50lb locally.
SPECIMEN HUNTING
Riba Roja has a great head of fish and some exceptional sport can be found here. We are about twenty miles downriver of Mequinenza where the River Ebro joins the River Segre, the area of the Ebro that saw the original introduction of Catfish back in the early seventies by a German biologist.
Only 40 mins by car, this area offers a more commercial style of fishing holiday. The current record is a staggering 64lb river caught common and in the summer months these shallow waters can result in some top quality specimen hunting.
Fishing to our pre baited hot spots from Hacienda Angling's bank side plots of land, our guide will show you the best areas and techniques to land an Ebro Carp or five! These generally uncaught fish really battle and multiple catches are regular.
